7 Places to Visit During February Half Term in Leeds (and a little beyond)
7 Places to Visit During February Half Term
Make the most of this half term by planning a few family days out. I know it can feel daunting when everywhere is so busy but getting out and about is so good for both you and your little ones. And you should never pass on an opportunity to create memories with your family especially while they are still so young (and not yet completely embarrassed by you!).
I’ve pulled together some of my favourite spots to visit with my own family:
Lotherton Hall - Love Birds Event
Lotherton Hall is a firm favourite with my family. We love the playgrounds as well as the woodlands (which have pushchair-friendly paths!), the little cafe and the beautiful gardens.
They also have a bird garden and a deer park. There’s plenty to see and do so your little ones definitely won’t get bored. Maybe take your wellies though, the recent weather has left everywhere a little soggy.
During February half term, they will be running a Love Birds trail around the Edwardian gardens and there will be craft stations where you can make a bird feeder to take home.
Temple Newsam - Lambing Season
Another big hit with my little girl is Temple Newsam. There’s a fab playground, lakes where you can feed the ducks, a vegetable garden so you can show your little ones what beetroot and cabbage look like while they are still growing, a beautiful formal garden with a greenhouse filled with exotic plants.
There’s also the farm and at this time of year you might even get to see a lamb being born!
And, this year, Temple Newsam are running a Sunflower Planting event at the Walled Garden which is totally free. Click here to see the details: Sunflower Planting Hosted by Temple Newsam Estate
Royal Armouries Museum - Superheroes Event
This one sounds really exciting! All of your favourite superheroes are assembling at The Royal Armouries Museum throughout February half term.
There will be opportunities for your kids to meet their favourite comic book hero as well as getting up close to their weapons and armour and there will be live stunt shows, combat demonstrations, crafts, face painting and much more to keep your mini heroes entertained. Check out all the details HERE.
Leeds Town Hall - Peppa Pig: My First Concert
Peppa Pig is in town for one day only! And she’s bringing Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig and George for a fun, interactive concert with a live orchestra. This is perfect for preschoolers that are a little overwhelmed by all of the bigs kids invading their usual hangouts. Book your tickets HERE
Piglets Adventure Farm - February Frolics
Piglets Adventure Farm will be reopening for just 6 days in February for their lovely lamb season. Your little ones will get to meet and bottle feed lambs as well as play in the huge indoor play barn and go on a tractor ride - I know there are some little girls and boys that would absolutely love to spend the day here (mine included!). Booking in advance is always recommended. You can get your tickets HERE.
The Deep - Changing Seas Exhibit
A brand new exhibit is opening at The Deep this half term. The exhibit features Dog faced pufferfish, Red lionfish, and Leopard moray eels.
There’s also daily dive shows, penguin feeding and the fab touch pool sessions. Find out more HERE.
Lightwater Valley Theme Park is closed for the winter but will be opening their doors for some half term family fun.
There will be magic shows, indoor play areas, selected rides available and the lovely petting farm (with the craziest goats I’ve ever met) will be open for your little ones to make some new furry friends.
Whatever you decide to do this half term, make sure you wrap up warm, take plenty of snacks, bottles for water and wipes! And take loads of photos - you and your children will adore looking back on them in time to come.
