Farmer Copley's Pumpkin Patch
Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Picking
I love family traditions. There’s something really comforting about spending time with the people you love, doing something that you enjoy, and knowing that you will be doing it again and again for many years to come.
One of my favourite traditions is our annual pumpkin picking trip to Farmer Copleys. There are literally thousands of pumpkins to choose from so don’t be surprised if you find it impossible to pick just one.
We pulled on our wellies, grabbed a wheelbarrow (of which there are plenty) and headed into the field to pick the perfect pumpkin.
What I like most about Farmer Copley’s pumpkins is they have lots of character. Some are oddly shaped, covered in warts, still a bit green and have long twisted stalks. These are my favourites. They make excellent Halloween pumpkins. I was determined to pick a huge green one this year and turn it into a witch to proudly display on my doorstep but my daughter insisted we only pick ‘the baby ones’ (aren’t toddlers just great…).
After picking our pumpkins, riding on the tractor, taking advantage of the ‘photo opps’ and saying hello to the goats we were all ready for a feast so we popped into Moo cafe and filled up on hog roast sandwiches and hot cups of tea.
If you haven’t visited Farmer Copleys before you are definitely missing out. And if you brave the crowds on a weekend you will be rewarded with extra activities such as face-painting, barrel rides and pottery painting to name but a few.
