My Favourite Baby-Friendly Restaurants in Leeds

Let me start by saying that ANY restaurant that has a kids menu is fair game. No matter how upscale or trendy an eatery might seem, if they have gone out of their way to provide a menu for your little one then they not only anticipate families visiting, they welcome them.

Here is a list of restaurants and cafes that I have personally visited with my daughter and really enjoyed.

Pizza Express

This is a real hit for all of the family. Their Piccolo menu is great for babies and they always give you a little activity pack which includes a sticker sheet, paper hat and something to colour in. Their food usually comes out super fast which is a massive bonus. They have plenty of highchairs and the staff have always been really friendly and accommodating.

The Topiary Restaurant, Garforth Garden Centre

This is my nearest cafe/restaurant and we visit ALL the time. Their kids menu is pretty standard and their activity pack is a nice little bonus but nothing particularly special. The most appealing factor for this garden centre cafe is the huge seating area with plenty of room for prams and the ample free parking. I see loads of mummies here every time we visit - it’s a real hit.

Red’s True Barbecue

This probably isn’t somewhere that would immediately spring to mind when trying to find somewhere suitable to eat with a baby but trust me - give it a try. My daughter LOVES their pulled pork and can eat their apple sauce by the spoonful. The tables are quite close together meaning there’s not a ton of room for prams but as long as you don’t turn up with all of your NCT buddies then you should be absolutely fine. They have a dedicated kids menu, a cute activity pack and did I mention the amazing pulled pork? Plus they often have deals on where kids eat free so they really do want you to visit with your little ones.

Yo! Sushi

Again, probably a little surprising to see this on the list but it was honestly so much fun visiting Yo! Sushi when my daughter was still a baby. They have the cutest highchairs which spin around so provide plenty of entertainment for babies and my daughter loved watching all the colourful plates whiz by. We did baby led weaning so lots of the foods were actually really easy for my daughter to pick up and eat. Definitely worth a try if you fancy something different.

The Courtyard Tea Room, Temple Newsam

I love visiting Temple Newsam with my family. They have a great playground, beautiful gardens, large open spaces perfect for kids to run around in, a farm and a lovely tea room. After exploring the grounds (or just popping down to the lake to feed the ducks) we love to visit the tea room for a little treat and on warm days we make the most of the courtyard.

Carluccio’s

The staff have always been great at Carluccio’s and gone out of their way to talk to my daughter and make her smile. The food is yummy and usually comes out pretty fast and we always like to visit the deli section on our way out and pick a sweet treat to take home and enjoy later.

Baby Led Weaning at restaurants

The Lakeside Cafe, Roundhay Park

After pushing the pram around Rounday park or attending one of the many buggy fit classes there, you definitely deserve to pop into the Lakeside Cafe for a cup of tea and a light lunch. Don’t forget to buy a bag of duck food and feed the swans while you’re there.

Temple Coffee Leeds

The most instagram worthy cafe of them all. If you haven’t heard of Temple Coffee and Donuts before, you’re in for a real treat. Their donuts are made fresh every day and are about to same size as a baby’s head (no joke - check out their Instagram). They have an ever changing selection of donuts to choose from which are so beautiful it’s almost a shame to eat them, almost. They’re not exactly the most healthy of options but raising kids is hard work and you deserve a little treat every now and then.

There are countless more I could add to the list and I’m forever learning of new and fun places that I really must try out (I’ve heard great things about Gusto, George’s Great British Kitchen and Fazenda!). It can be really daunting for new parents to visit a restaurant for the first time with their baby but you would be surprised by how accommodating the staff can be and how much your fellow diners can enjoy the company of a baby.
